On June 4 Emomali Rakhmon, President of Tajikistan, received Cory Udovichki, UNO Deputy Secretary-in-General and head of the UNO Europe and CIS Department.
In the course of the meeting current issues related to the international situation and outlooks for cooperation between the UNO and Tajikistan were discussed.
Having expressed satisfaction with the process of sustainable socio-economic development observed in Tajikistan, the interlocutors claimed the National Development Strategy extending through 2015 and the Poverty Reduction Strategy as significant means ensuring this process further. Also the meeting of a consultative group held as a forum devoted to the development of Tajikistan in Dushanbe, June 2, was highly appreciated.
Emomali Rakhmon expressed his gratitude to the UNO leadership for supporting the state policy of Tajikistan carried out in all the social spheres.
Ms. Cory Udovichki considered measures taken by the Tajik Government in order to achieve the Millennium Development Goals defined by the UNO valuable and worth supporting.
In conclusion an exchange of views on maintaining and expanding further cooperation between the UNO and Tajikistan and discussion of issues related to regional and international security took place.
